The Purpose of the Harvest Information System By sharing codes and categories, HIS will improve communication and the sharing of needed data with missions strategists. It will also give a more comprehensive view of the network of information needed for missions. For example, a mission agency working in the heart language of the people group in Colombia would need to include certain basic information in it's database to identify and track this work. Specifically, they would need to include the people group name, country name, and language name in order to identify the Woun Meu-speaking Waunana of Colombia and any other information related to that work. The Harvest Information System provides a comprehensive set of codes for each of these basic information categories. Not only does the use of HIS codes save the agency the headache of developing its own codes from scratch, it facilitates the sharing of its information, with others, as the agency deems appropriate. With code designations everyone can be sure they are talking about the same people group or language or other data category.
