Overview of HIS Registries

The following are the registries that currently make up the Harvest Information System.

Registry of Geography [ROG]

This registry defines codes for identifying the geopolitical entities of the world. (See documentation and downloading instructions.) It includes the following code table:

Code for Country [ROG_Country]. A code in this code set represents countries.

Registry of Languages [ROL]

This registry defines codes for identifying the languages of the world. (See documentation and downloading instructions.) It includes the following code table:

Code for Language [ROL_Language]. A code in this code set represents a distinct human language. See web sites that use this code set.

It also contains a name and country index to support retrieval of language codes by alternate language names and countries where spoken.

Registry of Peoples [ROP]

This registry defines codes for identifying the ethnolinguistic people groups of the world. (See documentation and downloading instructions.) It includes the following code table:

Code for People Group [ROP_People]. A code in this code set represents an ethnolinguistic people group.

It includes supplementary tables that provide alternate names and population estimates for people groups. There are also linking tables that associate people groups with the languages they speak, the countries they live in, and the religions they practice.

Registry of Ministry Resources [RMR]

This registry defines standardized codes for classifying resources used in ministry with respect to scope of scripture, type of scripture material, nature of content, mode of expression, and format of delivery. (See documentation and downloading instructions.)
